There’d been lots of speculation about Matt Canada’s status as the LSU Tigers offensive coordinator. Canada, hired on the staff from the Pittsburgh Panthers this offseason, apparently didn’t work out the way many thought, and so there was a buzz that he would be departing Baton Rouge.
That news has, evidently, come into fruition. Ross Dellenger of The Advocate reported Thursday night that both sides have entered negotiations for a split. The talks have apparently entered their final stages.

The end is near.
The school and Canada are discussing a settlement on the $3.3M he's owedhttps://t.co/q19tNfDoOb
Under Canada, LSU’s offense ranked 66th in the nation in points per game (29.5) and 42nd in S&P+ (30.4). Their rushing attack ranked 6th in S&P+ and eighth in Success Rate. As far as passing, they ranked 16th in S&P+ but 52nd in Success Rate.
There’s no word yet on who the Tigers will target for the eventual open offensive coordinator position. Plenty of possibilities lie around, so we’ll see who Ed Orgeron eventually tabs to run the offense in 2018.
