NEVADA VS VANDERBILT PREVIEW

Quietly, the Vanderbilt Commodores put on a dominant performance against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. The showing a consistent offense, as running backs Jamauri Wakefield and Khari Blasingame averaged over five and a half yards a carry, AND six sacks were made on defense, as well.

Kyle Shurmur went 10-for-17 for only 170 yards, but did throw two touchdowns and will need to limit his turnovers for Vanderbilt to have a successful season.

The Nevada Wolf Pack meanwhile comes in to Nashville after a 72-19 over Portland State. Their quarterback, Ty Gangi, went 16-for-26 for 342 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his receivers, Kaleb Fossum and McLane Mannix, went for over 100 yards and Mannix caught three touchdowns.

The Commodores’ six sacks were impressive, but Gangi is more of a dual-threat. So, it will be up to the defensive line to contain him. Vandy should win this game, but Nevada has a decent team that the Commodores can’t overlook before they head to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next week.
