Once again, the Alabama Crimson Tide claim the right as the No. 1 team in the country.
After defeating the Colorado State Rams Saturday in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide are the No. 1 team in both the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. Alabama was a nearly unanimous choice in both polls for the top spot. The Clemson Tigers were the other to receive No. 1 votes in the polls after taking down the Louisville Cardinals.
No other SEC teams have figured out a way to crack into the Top 10. Five teams join Alabama in the polls again though, giving the SEC six yet again. The Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers and the Florida Gators remain in the mix. UGA built off their win over Notre Dame last week with a W over Samford. The ‘Dawgs are 11th in the AP Top 25 and 12th in the USA TODAY poll. Auburn bumped up to 15th and 16th following a win over Mercer. Florida, meanwhile, jumped up to 20th and 23rd following their miracle win over the Tennessee Volunteers.
LSU, on the other hand, fell down to 25th and 23rd in the AP and Coaches polls. That’s because of the destruction caused by the Mississippi St. Bulldogs. After State’s 37-7 beatdown of LSU, the Bulldogs climbed up to 17th in the AP poll and 19th in the Coaches poll. This after not even being ranked last week.
Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Tennessee all received votes in one or both polls this week.
