Alabama opens the season with a neutral site game against Florida State, in what will surely be a top-five matchup. As of early Saturday morning, the Tide may be without one of their star defensive linemen.
Da’Shawn Hand, the nation’s most coveted recruit in 2014, was arrested Saturday morning on a DUI charge. He is being held on a $1,000 bond.
Hand made appearances in all 15 games last season, where he racked up two sacks, five quarterback hurries and 21 tackles. His role will presumably be much larger this year in the absence of Jonathan Allen and Dalvin Tomlinson.
Alabama opens preseason camp on Thursday. If history repeats itself, Coach Nick Saban will handle the matter “internally,” which likely means a one-game suspension for the season opener.
