The South Carolina Gamecocks had a big recruiting weekend at their Spurs Up Cookout, landing three (!) commits on Saturday alone! They were:
- 3-star offensive tackle Jesus Gibbs (Class of 2018)
- 3-star wide receiver Tyquan Johnson (Class of 2018)
- Unranked inside linebacker Ahdarrious Gee (Class of 2019)
Let’s delve in, shall we?

Gibbs was the first to commit on Saturday, as the Dumfries, Virginia native decided South Carolina was the place for him. Gibbs is ranked 26th among all recruits from the state of Virginia and 123rd overall at his position. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound tackle held offers from Virginia and East Carolina among others and is, so far, the lone recruit from the state of Virginia to commit to Muschamp and the Gamecocks.

Johnson was the second player to commit to the Gamecocks on Sunday, giving them another wide receiver to join fellow three-star Darius Rush of Greeleyville. Johnson, a native of Sylvania, Georgia, is ranked 72nd among all recruits from The Peach State, and sits 114th at his position and 685th overall in America. Johnson is listed at 6-foot-3 and 195 lbs., and will give the receiving corp some great length once he suits up.

Gee was the third and final commit for South Carolina, and is the lone one for 2019. The Cordele, Georgia native is Will Muschamp’s first 2019 pledge as the first building block for that year is now in place. Gee attends Crisp County High School and is listed at 6-foot-1, 190 lbs. as an inside linebacker. Currently he’s unranked, but of course there’s plenty of time to go up in that department.
