It’s an exciting day to be an Aggie fan, at least if you’re following the latest recruiting news. Kevin Sumlin picked up 2 commitments from players in the class of 2019, with those 2 players becoming the first in that class for Texas A&M.

Yeah, you can tell Sumlin is clearly sharing in the excitement.
One of the players who committed to Texas A&M today is Grant Gunnell, a 6’6” Houston-area quarterback. Gunnell is a 4-star recruit who is ranked as the 2nd-best pro style quarterback in the country by 247Sports.
After viewing some of Gunnell’s highlights below, it’s easy to see how he was offered scholarships by some of the country’s best programs like LSU, Nebraska, and Florida State, but it’s ultimately the Aggies that will get to have him under center.
The other recruit who committed to Texas A&M today is Chase Lane. Lane, a 3-star wide receiver, also attends St. Pius X with Gunnell. Lane is ranked by 247Sports as the 48th-best wide receiver in the class of 2019. Before committing, Texas A&M was the only school that had offered Lane.
Time will only tell how good they will be in college, but it would be mighty sweet to see these two continue their gridiron success on into their college years (albeit in front of a much larger audience).
