Will Wade and the LSU Tigers landed five-star 2018 prospect Ja’Vonte Smart on Friday.

Smart, a native of Baton Rouge, is the top recruit in Louisiana for 2018 and ranks 21st overall in America. The five-star point guard is sixth-best at his position in a loaded class, standing behind Darius Garland, Immanuel Quickley, Tre Jones, Quentin Grimes and Jahvon Quinerly.
Smart held offers from the likes of Kentucky and others, but decided to stay home in Baton Rouge and play for Wade and the Tigers starting next fall. He’s the first to commit for 2018, which boosts them up to 15th in the country and third in the SEC right now behind Arkansas and Missouri.
More good news may be on its way for LSU if fellow five-star Nazreon Reid commits. The five-star power forward from Roselle Catholic in New Jersey is on an official visit to LSU today.
