Earlier on Thursday, Ian Begley of ESPN reported that Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari sought out the New York Knicks for their open president job.
Well, Coach Cal, who’s in Egypt right now, addressed those rumors on Twitter:
NO ONE has contacted the Knicks on my behalf. I am the coach at Kentucky and will be for a long time!

Even in Egypt I can’t escape the rumors. Are you kidding me?! It’s 5 in the morning here and this is what I wake up to?

Off to go see the pyramids in a bit. And by the way, I like my team. And my @usabasketball team too!

Have to say, that’s a quicker shutdown than even we might have expected. Usually this whole sort of thing results in a contract extension for Cal. But, it looks like this will just be what many expected it to be: A non-story with Cal not leaving Lexington.
