The Rome Wolves defensive tackle is listed as a three-star recruit on 247Sports Composite. He ranks 41st in the state of Georgia, 30th among defensive tackles around the country, and is the 397th overall prospect in America.
Chatman’s Crystal Ball indicated that he’d been volleying back and forth with Tennessee and Miami. A recent surge dating back to just a week ago indicated that Butch Jones and his staff did the necessary legwork to make sure that Chatman was headed to Knoxville instead of Coral Gables. A week later, and here he is in tow.
He’s the second player to commit to the Vols on Sunday, joining fellow Georgian Anthony Grant, a running back from Buford (and in turn, turning 2018 commit Jatavious Harris into a scoopsman) and the third of the weekend. Lyn-J Dixon, also from Georgia, committed to Tennessee on Saturday.
Jamarcus’ commitment to Tennessee gives Jones 15 commits for 2018 so far. Their class remains sixth in the country after leapfrogging Clemson, Oregon and FSU earlier with Grant’s commitment and they still remain second behind LSU in the SEC. Nonetheless, the Vols definitely have something going right now especially after a rather huge weekend.
