The Gators land the top-ranked JUCO safety.

JUCO safety Deontai Williams committed to the Florida Gators on Monday morning.

Williams, listed at 6 feet tall and 175 lbs., announced the move on his personal Twitter account.

Williams ranks as the top JUCO safety in America via 247Sports Composite and the 18th-best overall recruit among JUCO players. That puts him in the company of Mississippi State Bulldogs wide receiver commit Nero Nelson (19th), offensive tackle T.J. Bradley (17th) and defensive end Alton Robinson (20th).

He’s now the ninth commit in Jim McElwain’s 2018 class and the sixth three-star of the bunch. He joins Divaad Wilson, Corey Gammage, Jalynn Williams, Taylor Upshaw and Jalen Goss in that regard and he is also the fifth defensive player in the class, joining Wilson, Upshaw, C.J. Smith and Amari Burney. Interestingly enough, Williams is the third safety of the group too, joining the aforementioned Smith and Burney as it appears McElwain is loading up on DBs for 2018.
