Sunday SEC Baseball slate: Game time, TV schedule, live stream

After a busy Saturday, five games await on Sunday.

NCAA Baseball: College World Series-Florida vs Miami Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday proved to be a busy, busy day.

Arkansas and Tennessee split their doubleheader right down the middle. After the Vols’ 5-4 victory over the Hogs, the Razorbacks answered right back with a decisive 2-0 victory. The win was much-needed for the 15th-ranked team in the country to keep up with their fellow peers in the SEC West, and although they didn’t get what they wanted, they still manage to stay in a good place in the standings.

Speaking of which, Mississippi State took their series with Texas A&M after their 4-3 victory. The win firmly puts them in first place in the SEC West with a 16-8 mark in conference play. The Aggies consequently fall to 14-10, squandering a huge opportunity to put a dent in State’s chances of winning the division. Now they find themselves two games out of first with three teams with 14-9 records ahead of them in the West (Arkansas, Auburn, LSU).

Speaking of Auburn, the Tigers missed an opportunity of their own as they lost to Alabama 4-3. A win could’ve put them in a tie in the loss column with State, but they flip to 14-9 instead. ‘Bama effectively played the spoiler role in this one, coming into the game with a paltry record of 3-19 in SEC play, the worst in the conference by a wide margin. Needless to say, the Tide (and their fans) probably feel good about that one.

7th-ranked Florida, 5th-ranked Kentucky and 11th-ranked LSU meanwhile were all able to grab wins. The Gators defeated Ole Miss 7-4, the Wildcats also beat Georgia 7-4 and the Tigers won 5-2 over the South Carolina Gamecocks. Florida and Kentucky continue to stay at the same pace, both standing with 15-8 records in conference play while LSU bumped up to 14-9 to tie with Arkansas and Auburn for second in the SEC West.

Vanderbilt’s momentum, meanwhile, was slightly curbed on Saturday with their 2-1 loss to Missouri. The Commodores fall to 11-11 in conference play and they now see themselves at three games out of first in the SEC East after the defeat. Mizzou meanwhile puts a dent in Vandy’s run and gets a quality win out of it.
