O.J. Howard of the Alabama Crimson Tide wasn’t the only SEC tight end to be picked in the first round Thursday night.

No, Ole Miss Rebels tight end Evan Engram has crashed the party as he’s been selected with the 23rd overall pick by the New York Giants!

After the Rebels had three first rounders in last year’s draft (Laremy Tunsil, Laquon Treadwell, Robert Nkemdiche), Engram joins the illustrious group of Ole Miss first rounders with Thursday night’s selection. That group includes the previous three as well as Michael Oher, Peria Jerry, Patrick Willis, Chris Spencer and two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, who juuuuust so happn. Deuce McAllister and Archie Manning are also among the now 23 first rounders produced by Ole Miss with Engram’s selection by the Giants.

Engram is only the seventh offensive skill position player from Ole Miss to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. He joins Treadwell, McAllister, running backs John Avery, Parker Hall and Mike Dennis as well as fullback Merle Hapes as first round selections who were either running backs, fullbacks or wide receivers on the Rebels.

Best of luck to Evan Engram and may he catch all the passes and score all the touchdowns!
