The Florida Gators up their first round draftee streak to five years with the selection of linebacker Jarrad Davis by the Detroit Lions!

The Detroit Lions took Davis with the No. 21 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Davis now joins the company of Vernon Hargreaves, Keanu Neal, Dante Fowler, D.J. Humphries, Dominique Easley, Sharrif Floyd and Matt Elam as Gators taken in the first round since 2013. Drawing the curtains back further, Jarrad Davis is the 12th Gator to be picked in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2010, joining the company of the aforementioned seven plus Mike Pouncey, Joe Haden, Maurkice Pouncey and Tim Tebow.

Defense has been the name of the game for the Gators in recent years in the draft. He’s the eighth defensive player from Florida to be taken in the first round since 2010 and 22nd since 2010. That group includes Neal, Easley, Floyd, Elam, Haden, Carlos Dunlap, Brandon Spikes and Jonathan Bullard among others.

Best of luck to Jarrad Davis at the next level!
