Memphis transfer Markel Crawford commits to Ole Miss

The Rebels lure in a grad transfer.

Andy Kennedy’s Ole Miss Rebels will add a new face to the roster for 2017 as Markel Crawford has just committed to the Rebs.

The former Memphis Tigers hooper put himself on the transfer market a few weeks back and made his decision on Wednesday night to head across the border to Oxford. There’d been some rumblings that the South Carolina Gamecocks, fresh off a Final Four appearance, were in the running as well as a few others but in the end it’s Ole Miss who’s lured him in.

Crawford played three years up at Memphis as a guard, averaging 25 minutes per game. Over his three-year career as a Tiger, he averaged 8.0 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 45.6 percent from the field. As a junior, he averaged 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the 3-point line. All of those marks were career highs.
