Amidst a sea of favorable nonconference matchups for the teams of the SEC, one in particular stands out as a heavy test. Kentucky will be hosting the second-ranked Louisville Cardinals on Tuesday night in Lexington in a high-profile Top 15 encounter.

The Wildcats, ranked 13th in the country, will look to keep their winning ways up as they enter the game having won three of their last four games, including a series win over Mizzou this past weekend.

Since March 1, Kentucky has been rolling, posting a record of 22-7 but in April they’ve seen a bit of a slide, posting a record of 5-5 in the 10 games played this month, including one against the Cards back on April 4, which they lost 5-3. We’ll see if UK has what it takes to get some revenge.

Six other ranked squads will take the field on Tuesday. Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, LSU and Mississippi State all will be in nonconference action, with the Bulldogs having the biggest test ahead of them. They’ll travel to take on South Alabama who, at 21-15, is ranked 73rd in RPI right now which is the highest among the teams squaring off against those six ranked squads tonight. They’ve proven to be a tough test for the rest of the Sun Belt, so we’ll see if State can avoid overlooking them.

A major test will lie ahead of Mizzou as they take on the Missouri State Bears. The Bears have been terrific in the VC this year, posting a 23-13 mark to this point and are ranked 22nd in the RPI. This could prove to be a big opportunity for MIzzou to get a quality nonconference victory. It would be their second RPI Top 25 nonconference win of the year, with the other being Houston who currently ranks 15th.
