Leading Off...
While fifth-ranked Texas A&M’s games were cancelled on Saturday, the rest of the SEC took the field for action on Saturday. In turn, yet another successful day at the ballyard was spun, as the teams of the conference posted a record of 18-3.
The lone teams to take losses on the day were Mizzou, South Carolina and LSU. Mizzou couldn’t figure Oregon out in their second meeting in as many days as the Ducks pelted them 7-2 following the Tigers’ 2-0 win earlier in the day over Maryland.
LSU meanwhile couldn’t follow up on their 3-0 win over Illinois. In turn, the Bayou Bengals fell by the same score to 11th-ranked Minnesota. And finally, South Carolina lost the second portion of their doubleheader to 20th-ranked Arizona State after shutting out Indiana in the early afternoon.
Apart from that? Pretty typical day at the office. Auburn beat up Charleston and Texas State, outscoring them 22-1. The great Alexis Osorio struck out 18 batters in a win over Stanford (this coming after run-ruling Drake). Tennessee won via a walk-off, Kentucky’s Abbey Cheek hit a grand salami and the Florida Gators improved to 20-1.
