A win is a win, right?
Saturday afternoon in the SEC Tournament semifinals, the Kentucky Wildcats picked up a 79-74 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide to advance to their fourth straight SEC Tournament final.
De’Aaron Fox had a huge day, recording 28 points on 8-12 shooting After struggling in Kentucky’s opener against Georgia, Malik Monk recovered to score 20 points for the Wildcats in Saturday’s victory. Fox, Monk, and Bam Adebayo combined for 58 of 79 Kentucky points.
The Wildcats didn’t exactly put on a commanding performance, though, as Alabama was within a point with five minutes to go. Of course, playing back-to-back games could do that to a team, but it’s still at least somewhat concerning for Kentucky, who didn’t look particularly dominant against a team bound for the NIT.
Alabama got out to a 10 point lead early on thanks to Dazon Ingram’s hot shooting. Ingram would lead the team with 17 points before fouling out with 1:13 to play.
As noted above, the Wildcats will be in action again Sunday where they’ll face Arkansas in their fourth straight SEC Tournament final while Alabama is likely headed to the NIT for the second straight season.
