All good things eventually come to an end. Unfortunately for Ole Miss, the Rebels found that out the hard way as their winning ways came to a screeching halt. Memphis tagged the Rebs with a 9-6 loss, the first of the season for the boys in Oxford. The tipping point came in the sixth inning when the Tigers hung three runs on the Rebels after already holding a 5-4 lead in the game. Ole Miss did answer with two runs later on, but after tacking on another in the top of the ninth, Memphis sealed the deal in the bottom of the inning.

The other ranked teams in the SEC fared very well. South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU and Texas A&M all recorded victories of different variety. Some were by many runs (A&M defeated Prairie View A&M 9-2, the Gamecocks won 8-4 over Appalachian State) while others opted for closer results (Florida won 4-3, Vandy won 9-6, LSU won 3-2).

The unranked teams were a mixed bag. Kentucky soundly defeated Eastern Kentucky 12-0, but the others fell to their foes. Auburn was edged out 7-6, for instance and Georgia had a similar fate dealt by Kennesaw State to the tune of 5-4. Alabama also fell by a run, 2-1 to Jacksonville State in 10 innings, and the Arkansas Razorbacks slipped 4-3 to Louisiana Tech.

Of the matchups that went down on Tuesday, only a few will go down again on Wednesday. Arkansas-Louisiana Tech gets another play while Florida battles UCF yet again. Additionally, Vanderbilt gets another crack at SE Louisiana. Kentucky moves from Eastern to Western Kentucky and, finally, Texas A&M will take on Incarnate Word.
