Johnny Vander Meer didn’t gain any company on Saturday after Jared Poche’s attempt at converting on BACK-TO-BACK no hitters fell short. What a bum, amirite?
No, but Poche has been absolutely lights out to start the season. The senior southpaw has yet to allow a single earned run this year and went through 15 innings of no-hit ball before Zach Jancarski of the Maryland Terrapins did the damage with an infield single. The lone hit by Jancarski was the only base knock the Terps could muster in a dominant 14-0 win for the Bayou Bengals.

Another day, another victory for Ole Miss who’s now 6-0 on the season after their 8-4 dub against UNC Wilmington. They were tested, but ultimately, the Rebels put up a five-spot in the eighth to gain control. Tate Blackman’s game-tying single was followed up by a two-run home run by Bryan Seamster and they would not look back from there. Colby Bortles went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI as well.
The win for the Rebs guarantees them yet another series win of course and they’ll look to make it 7-0 on Sunday.
Florida was able to procure a series win over their Sunshine State rivals after winning 2-0 over 17th-ranked Miami. The second-ranked Gators shut the ‘Canes out for the second consecutive game after winning 1-0 on Friday. Hurler Brady Singer fanned 11 Hurricane batters while Mark Kolozsvary and Jonathan India belted solo homers.
