Five ranked teams will take the field on Tuesday, with the first coming in Columbia at 4 p.m. Danny Blair, Jacob Olson and South Carolina will take on the Charlotte 49ers after going 2-1 over the weekend against UNC Greensboro. Shortly thereafter, reigning SEC Player of the Week Ryan Olenek and Ole Miss, fresh off taking a series from ECU, battles with Arkansas State.
While Florida is tied up with Jacksonville, third-ranked LSU faces off with New Orleans. The Tigers of course were extremely successful over the weekend, sweeping their slate over Army and Air Force while Jared Poche’ threw the first no-hitter for the Tigers since 1979.
Reigning Freshman of the Week Brendan Shewmake and the 20th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies round out the slate later on against Stephen F. Austin. Shewmake was terrific over the weekend, driving in eight runs in the series, putting together some great at-bats in his first taste of college baseball. We’ll see if that adjustment continues over the next few days.
