SEC Baseball Weekend Wrap-Up: Week 1

The first full weekend is in the books!

USA TODAY Sports

After the first full weekend of college baseball this season, there were a lot of winners and losers around the Southeastern Conference.

Some of the big winners this weekend were the universities that managed to go undefeated. Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Arkansas were able to get the job done, and of those teams, the Tigers had the most impressive victory of the weekend with a 9-0 win over Army. Florida comes in close second with their 11-2 domination of William & Mary.

In addition, Texas A&M would make quick work of Bowling Green with their largest run margin coming from the 15-1 victory over the Falcons on Friday. Arkansas would gain a huge win over Miami (OH) on Sunday, crushing the Redhawks 11-1, while Ole Miss had to battle for every W in their series against East Carolina.

The most unfortunate case this weekend goes to the Kentucky Wildcats who managed to lose every single one of their games against UNC. UK finds itself alone in the group after Georgia managed to get going against Charleston and pulled off a one-run victory Sunday afternoon.

Tennessee would also struggle to find themselves this weekend against Memphis, but saw the light on Sunday when they absolutely overpowered the Tigers to win the game 10-0.

The remainder of the SEC teams have only one loss. These teams include: Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Mizzou and Vanderbilt. The team to watch is Mississippi State, as the Bulldogs were able to come out against two separate teams and come away with only one loss.

The Bulldogs laid into Texas Tech Friday night beating the Red Raiders 5-2, only to come back the next night and beat Western Illinois 8-2.

Although not the top dogs of the first weekend, these will be some of the teams around the conference to keep your eye on.
