A no-no goes in the books!

MLB: New York Mets-Workouts Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday Recap

What went down on Saturday? Oh, nothing that eventful. Just a no-hitter.

LSU’s senior hurler Jared Poche recorded the first no-no for the Tigers since 1979 and the sixth in the illustrious program’s history. Pretty good way to start the season, yeah?

Elsewhere, Ole Miss is a hell of a lot of noise so far. The Rebels took yet another game from the ECU Pirates, winning the opening series against the 10th-ranked team in the country. Although they’re ranked 24th to start the year, Ole Miss is making it known out of the gate that they’re going to be a whale to deal with.

Something that may jump off the page to you? Mizzou scored 27 runs. Yep. You read that righty. They scored TWENTY SEVEN RUNS IN A SINGLE GAME. Poor Eastern Michigan. Texas A&M may’ve one-upped them by scoring a combined 35 runs in *two* games against Bowling Green.

Other Notables:

  • Georgia took one on the chin to Charleston
  • Mississippi State got their first win of the season
  • Kentucky did their damnedest to defeat UNC... but fell short
  • Vanderbilt’s game still could not be taken care of
