Leading Off...

We’re now down to five unbeatens in the SEC as Florida and Alabama suffered their first losses of the season on Saturday.

The Gators fell 4-2 to the Maryland Terrapins while the 4th-ranked Crimson Tide was unseated by 18th-ranked UL Lafayette by the hearty score of 11-2. Florida and ‘Bama now join Auburn and LSU in the one-loss club while Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M have yet to be dealt a single blemish in this 2017 season so far.

Four of the five undefeated teams were in action on Saturday. Georgia trounced Dayton and UL Monroe by a combined score of 20-4; South Carolina edged out Louisiana Tech 4-3; Tennessee took down DePaul and shut out Bradley; and Texas A&M walked all over New Mexico and Missouri State, defeating them both by an 18-3 margin.

Elsewhere, LSU reeled off their fifth and sixth win in a row by defeating Georgia Southern and Central Arkansas. Auburn pieced together their sixth and seventh win in a row in defeating Evansville and Creighton. And Ole Miss picked up a 13-0 shutout, too.
