February 16 SEC softball schedule, times, TV schedule, online streaming info

After a busy Wednesday, things are much lighter on Thursday.

Leading Off...

The big matchup of the day was the doubleheader between UCLA and Kentucky. By night’s end, the Wildcats managed to force a split in the two game set, winning 2-1 in 11 innings following a 6-2 defeat earlier in the evening. Jenny Schaper can be credited with doing the damage in extras after hitting a solo shot in the top of the 11th frame.

Elsewhere, no other SEC team experienced the agony of defeat. Georgia, Florida, Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M were able to handle their business against their lowlier opponents. The Bulldogs shutout Presbyterian College 8-0 after defeating them 10-1, in the first game of Wednesday’s slate. Florida, LSU and Texas A&M pitched 6-0, 5-0 and 2-0 shutouts against Jacksonville, Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston respectively and rounding things out was Alabama who won 3-1.

The most shocking news of the day was that Tide hurler Alexis Osorio actually gave up a run. Just a single run though. She did strike out 15 batters and issue one walk, so, you know: She’s still pretty damn good at this whole thing.

Mississippi State vs. Fresno State 11 a.m.
SIU Edwardsville vs. Auburn 7 p.m. SEC Network+

Only two teams from the SEC will be in action as Mississippi State battles Fresno State in a Bulldog-Bulldog showdown while Auburn battles with SIU Edwardsville. These should prove to be victories for both SEC teams unless something hairy occurs, so expect a clean slate by the time Friday comes around.
