Leading Off...
Well, that was an eventful first day.
SEC teams fared pretty well overall on Friday. Kentucky won on a walk-off against Florida A&M; Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi State, Florida, and Ole Miss all posted shutouts (the Crimson Tide did so twice, the Bulldogs of Mississippi State and Gamecocks); and in total, all 12 SEC teams that played recorded at least one victory.
Not too shabby.

The biggest matchup of the day is between the Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators. Both are ranked as Top 10 teams in the nation and are among the elite softball programs in the country. Michigan’s Courtney Richardson knocked a three-run home run against Illinois State on Friday as well as a three-hit game in a shutout win over Delaware.
The Gators meanwhile cruised to a win thanks to a one-hitter by southpaw Delanie Gourley who went the distance, striking out 12 USF batters. Janell Wheaton and Chelsea Herndon both had two-hit days, with the catcher Wheaton driving in three, and both were able to sock dingers as well in the victory.
Needless to say, Florida-MIchigan should deliver the goods... Unfortunately though, you won’t be able to see this game on TV anywhere. You’ll instead have to do your best to follow on the radio.
Other notables include Mizzou getting another crack at James Madison, Auburn looking to finish out strongly in Puerto Vallarta against BYU, Texas A&M colliding with Ohio State and LSU facing McNeese State and Penn State.
