South Carolina travels south to Tampa to face off with Michigan on New Year’s Day in the Outback Bowl. The game marks the Gamecocks fifth trip to the Tampa bowl game and is a repeat of the 2012-13 matchup in the same bowl.
The Steve Spurrier coached Gamecocks won that meeting but it is best remembered for Jadeveon Clowney’s crunching hit on Vincent Smith in the fourth quarter that energized the South Carolina bench. On the next play after the fumble, Connor Shaw hit a 31 yard touchdown pass and he would complete another with 11 seconds remaining to win the game.
Aside from the on-field action, this season’s bowl also features the debut of #fryinnanni as SB Nation’s own @celebrityhottub will be getting battered as the Outback Bloomin’ Onion in the second half.
