What Happened Last Night
- LSU 71, Memphis 61: LSU used a 19-5 run early in the second half to pull away from Memphis, in what was a tie game at halftime, picking up a key road win heading into SEC play. LSU finishes its nonconference schedule just one win shy of its win total from 2016-17. Tremont Waters led the Tigers with 18 points.
Today’s Game
Louisville at Kentucky (1 PM ET, CBS): In the preseason, this matchup looked enticing, with the Wildcats ranked #5 in the preseason poll and the Cardinals ranked #16.
But Louisville dropped out of the polls after losing at Purdue and to Seton Hall at home, and even a six-game winning streak hasn’t gotten them back in, largely because they still haven’t looked impressive in that stretch. Kentucky fell to #16 in the polls after a home loss to UCLA on Saturday.
Still, this is always a big rivalry game and that aspect hasn’t changed, even with Rick Pitino no longer on the sidelines for Louisville. This is an early game, with tipoff at 1 PM ET, and the game will be televised on CBS.
Bad Gambling Advice
Louisville at Kentucky (-5.5): I’m not terribly impressed with Kentucky this season, but I’m really unimpressed with Louisville. I see Kentucky winning comfortably in this one.
