N.C. State Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren will remain the man in Raleigh. Despite being offered the vacant coaching job with the Tennessee Volunteers, Doeren will remain in Raleigh. Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports reported the news Thursday, and was later corroborated by much of the college football newsies.

Doeren had reportedly been offered a contract on Wednesday night, and would make his decision on Thursday. That aforementioned decision has been made, as Tennessee’s search for a new head coach must march on. They have now seen offers to Greg Schiano, Mike Gundy and Dave Doeren go up in smoke.
Reasonable candidates that remain for this job include Tee Martin, Lane Kiffin (crazy that we’re saying that right now in 2017), and perhaps Kevin Sumlin as well. Sumlin’s name has now come up for the job by reporter Bruce Feldman. There’s no telling if that means they’re going to pursue him, but he would certainly be a solid choice for the job.
I mean, hell, so would anybody now, right?
