It’s Feast Week!

NCAA Basketball: Alcorn State at Louisiana State Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

What Happened Yesterday

The big game of the night saw the USC Trojans escape Nashville with a 93-89 OT win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. USC’s Jordan McLaughlin was integral in the Trojans’ win, scoring a game-high 35 points on 19 shots, and was 5-11 from 3. Chimezie Metu wasn’t too far behind with 23 and eight boards, but the highlight was certainly McLaughlin.

Matthew Fisher-Davis certainly had himself a night as well, scoring 31 and shot 6-13 from deep. MFD also had 11 boards, giving him a double-double. Riley LaChance had 19 points, Jeff Roberson had 10 points, and transfer Larry Austin Jr. had 13. It was certainly a tough go for Vandy, but they competed really hard against one of the best teams in the country.

Everything else pretty much went as expected. The Georgia Bulldogs had to squeak out a win, but they defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, anyway. The Florida Gators were pushed by New Hampshire, but UF got the win anyway. The South Carolina Gamecocks and Auburn Tigers each picked up wins against Western Michigan and Hofstra, as well.

Today’s Schedule

Feast Week tournaments galore. LSU opens their stay in the Maui Invitational with a matchup against Moritz Wagner and the Michigan Wolverines. The Ole Miss Rebels play the Utah Utes in the MGM Main Event, although that game will take some time to find on TV, if you can even do so.

The Texas A&M Aggies take the floor in Brooklyn against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the 2017 Legends Classic, meanwhile. D.J. Hogg has been on fire to start the year, so we’ll see if he can keep up his impressive play against the Pokes.

Apart from that, however, things should play into the SEC’s hands. The Missouri Tigers take on Emporia State, the Mississippi State Bulldogs play Green Bay and the Kentucky Wildcats battle Troy.
