So... yeah, looking forward, the SEC’s slate next week should be flames. This week, however, it’s a bit less than stellar. We’ve got some games that may surprise, some games that may at least be watchable, and we’ve got a lot of nonconference games with teams facing inferior opponents. Okay, so maybe UAB could take down Florida. Who knows?
Alabama vs. Mercer
Time: Noon ET/11 a.m. CT
TV: SEC Network
Watch Online: WatchESPN
Why you should watch: Alabama’s Damien Harris has been quietly terrific. Harris is 7th in the SEC in rushing yards and third in the conference in rushing touchdowns. He’s likely going to run all over Mercer if he has the opportunity to. You may want to key in on that.
Auburn vs. UL Monroe
Time: Noon ET/11 a.m. CT
TV: ESPN2
Watch Online: WatchESPN
Why you should watch: The Auburn Tigers are riding high, now ranked 6th in the CFB Playoff Rankings following their demolition of the Georgia Bulldogs last week. Kerryon Johnson has been absolutely ridiculous this season, and could be primed for another big game against the Hawks. Auburn has a lot of attention around them now, and you might want to see what they’ve got before their matchup with the team above.
No, not Mercer, silly.
Wofford vs. South Carolina
Time: 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT
TV: SEC Network
Watch Online: WatchESPN
Why you should watch: This is South Carolina’s last reasonable shot of the year to make nine wins a reachable task. The Gamecocks face the Clemson Tigers next week, and Clemson is #2 in the country for a reason. If the Gamecocks beat Wofford, they could aim for win #9 in their bowl game.
UAB vs. Florida
Time: 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT
TV: SEC Network
Watch Online: WatchESPN
Why you should watch: So you can hear Chip Kelly’s name get driven through the rumor cycle. Also, maybe UAB takes the Gators down in The Swamp?
