What Happened Yesterday

It was an up and down kind of day. The day began with two morning games, as South Carolina and Auburn faced Illinois State and Indiana State. Auburn turned out OK, winning by 19 over the Sycamores. The Gamecocks, meanwhile, lost by four to the Redbirds. Both will be moving on to the winner’s and loser’s brackets in their respective preseason tournaments.

Then, there was also Florida’s demolition of North Florida. The Ospreys had no chance, and after playing Michigan State, Michigan, VCU and Florida, North Florida could use a cigarette break. The Gators won by 40, six players had at least 12 points, seven had at least nine, eight had at least six, and everyone who touched the ball had at least a point. Pretty damn good, eh?

Mizzou, meanwhile, got boatraced in Salt Lake City. The Utes beat the Tigers by nearly 20 points in what’s sure to be looked back upon as a learning experience and “burn the tape” type game for Cuonzo Martin and the gang. Let’s hope everything’s OK with MPJ.

Lastly, LSU won by 19 over Samford. With relative ease.
