In life, they say the rich get richer. And that’s no different in college hoops. The Duke Blue Devils have again landed the No. 1 recruit in the nation. This time, it’s Canada’s R.J. Barrett, who chose the Dukies over the Kentucky Wildcats and Oregon Ducks.
R.J. Barrett announces he will be attending Duke. Potential #1 pick in 2019.

Barrett is the second consecutive No. 1 overall recruit to commit to the Blue Devils. Coach K has landed him and Marvin Bagley III in succession. Dating back to 2013, Duke has landed a Top 5 recruit in each class, with Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor (also a No. 1 overall recruit), Brandon Ingram and Harry Giles being a part of that group.
This is a bit of a blow for Kentucky, but there are still opportunities abound for them. Keldon Johnson is likely to head to Lexington, at least if you believe the rumor mill. Tyler Herro is also a possibility, as the former Wisconsin Badgers commit was offered recently by John Calipari. Herro is also visiting the UK campus this weekend, so we’ll see if something comes of that.
