The first CFB Playoff rankings of the season have been issued out. The SEC is well-represented at the top, as two teams from the conference are in the Top 4.

It’s the Georgia Bulldogs who stand atop the first set of CFP rankings this season. UGA has had a dominant season so far, picking up wins over fellow Top 25 teams Notre Dame and Mississippi State along the way. It’s the first time Georgia has seen the top ranking in any poll since being ranked as the preseason #1 team in 2008.

The Alabama Crimson Tide aren’t too far behind them, though. ‘Bama ranks No. 2 in the first set of rankings, to the shock of pretty much no one. Alabama has steamrolled damn near everyone in their path so far this year. While they have no Top 25 wins to speak of, opportunities lie ahead of them against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn.

The remainder of the Top 4 feature Notre Dame and the reigning National Champions, the Clemson Tigers.
