After a devastating loss to Mississippi State, this week serves as redemption time for the LSU Tigers. They’ll take on the Syracuse Orange in Death Valley on Saturday night. The Tigers dropped in the polls first loss of the season, and there’s a lot of work to be done to get back up in rankings. It starts now with this matchup against Syracuse.
The Tigers could not stop Mississippi State at all on either side of the ball and were very limited. Derrius Guice was stopped in his tracks, rushing under 100 yards. This week, I think, he will get back to his “regularly scheduled program.” The receivers have to step up as nine of quarterback Danny Etling’s dropped passes were not all because of him. Hopefully, Matt Canada ironed out some of the offensive hiccups to get things back to where they should be.
The defense didn’t look like they were ranked fifth in the nation at all last week. Even with defensive end Arden Key back in action. There were ridiculous penalties, causing two players to be ejected from the game and the first half of this week’s game. They will be up against a gun slinger in Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, who is not afraid to get the ball to his receivers.
Prediction: LSU 24, Syracuse 10
