Two of the best players in the conference, if not the best on each side of the ball, were recognized by the TSK staff.

LSU Tigers running back Leonard Fournette and Texas A&M Aggies edge rusher Myles Garrett are Team Speed Kills’ choices for preseason Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year in the SEC.

The TSK staff voted on the ballot with a slew of good choices everywhere, and Fournette and Garrett would quickly emerge as the frontrunners. Both players won by significant margins as Fournette accumulated 76.9 percent of the vote while Garrett amassed 69.2 percent of the vote.

Others who received votes in the process were Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Chad Kelly and Tennessee Volunteers running back Jalen Hurd. Kelly scooped two of the 13 votes totaled by the staff while Hurd picked up one vote.

Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball four other players not named Myles Garrett picked up votes. Alabama defenders Eddie Jackson and Jonathan Allen each had a vote, while Missouri Tigers edge rusher Charles Harris and Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Cameron Sutton each also picked up one vote apiece.

Congrats to both Fournette and Garrett, who could very well fulfill the prophecy by the end of the season and take home the awards when all is done and dusted.
