SEC football recruiting roundup (August 14, 2016)

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We aren’t as active as we were a week ago, and certainly not as active as we were in the last week of July. However, commits still went down. Here’s a recap:

Commits

Georgia

Devonte Wyatt (2017 3* DT, Decatur, GA)

LSU

JaCoby Stevens (2017 5* WR/S, Murfreesboro, TN)

Justin Thomas (2017 3* SDE, Spanish Fort, AL)

Ole Miss

Tim Bonner (3* 2017 WDE, Demopolis, AL)

Javien Hamilton (3* 2017 CB, Bay Springs, MS)

Mizzou

Reyondous Estes (3* DUAL QB, East Saint Louis, IL)

Biggest Splash

LSU: It’s hard not to get this anointment after fetching a five-star commit during the week, and sure enough LSU did exactly that. Les Miles’ stellar 2017 class was bolstered even more with the edition of JaCoby Stevens, a five-star wide receiver/safety who figures to make for the best freshman safety combo in the nation next year between he and four-star safety Grant Delpi of IMG Academy.

The Tigers haven’t quite caught Alabama yet but they’re certainly on their tail.
