Tonight, the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery will take place, giving 14 teams the chance to be slotted at the top of the draft, which is set to take place later this summer in late June. The lottery could have several players from the SEC be featured including but not limited to Skal Labissiere and Jamal Murray, formerly of the Kentucky Wildcats, as well as top prospect Ben Simmons, formerly of the LSU Tigers.
As you may well know, the lottery works like this: The worse your record is, the higher probability you have of claiming the first pick in the draft, as you will have more lottery balls dipped in the pool. Picks will be revealed from 14th to 1st in sequential order, and this year, several big market teams are in play. This field includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers amongst others, all of whom have the possibility of gaining a Top 3 pick or, at best, the first selection in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Below are the odds for each team in the lottery as well as TV info for how you can find this year's draft lottery.
|Team||Odds for #1 Pick|
|Los Angeles Lakers (Top 3 only, otherwise, it goes to Philadelphia)||19.9%|
|Boston Celtics (from Brooklyn)||15.6%|
|New Orleans Pelicans||6.3%|
|Denver Nuggets (from New York)||4.3%|
|Toronto Raptors (from Denver)||1.9%|
