Leonard Floyd is headed to the Chicago Bears after being selected with the No. overall 9 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
The now former Georgia Bulldogs pass rusher was a force in Athens during his three-year stint. He amassed 17.0 sacks and 182 total tackles according to Sports-Reference.com and picked up five forced fumbles and four passes defended in 37 career games as a college player.
Floyd is the second Bulldog in as many years to be taken in the first round after running back Todd Gurley was chosen with the No. 10 overall pick last year. Floyd is also the seventh Bulldog to be taken in the first round since 2009 and he stands in good company with Gurley, Jarvis Jones, Alec Ogletree, A.J. Green, Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno.
Further, Floyd is the fifth Georgia linebacker to be taken in the first round since 2005. David Pollack, Thomas Davis, Ogletree and Jones come before him so Floyd will continue to stay in good company in that department as well.
Best of luck to Floyd with his new team!
