December 8 SEC Basketball Schedule: TV, Tip Times, Streaming, How to Watch, Odds and Picks

There’s only one game tonight. Damn you, finals week.

NCAA Basketball: Valparaiso at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

What Happened Last Night

  • Kentucky 87, Valparaiso 63: Kentucky used a 21-0 first-half run to turn what was a competitive game into a blowout; Valpo never really came close in the second half. Bam Adebayo had 16 points and 7 boards to lead the Wildcats; Malik Monk had 15 points on a bit of an off night and Kentucky’s bench had 34 points.
  • Texas A&M 80, Denver 58: On a night when Tyler Davis was playing 12 minutes and DJ Hogg scored 5 points on 2-of-6 shooting, Texas A&M still won pretty easily thanks to 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from JC Hampton, and 15 points from Tonny Trocha-Morelos, who shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor. This was actually a really slow-paced game (58 possessions), so the Aggies’ 80 points was actually a strong offensive performance.

Today’s Schedule

Only one game tonight (damn you, finals week) as Vanderbilt makes a 30-mile trip (or so) to visit Middle Tennessee. MTSU, you’ll remember, beat Ole Miss by 15 last week — in Oxford! -- and is 8-1 on the season; granted, the one loss was at home to Tennessee State, a team that Vanderbilt beat by 24. So... who knows. Tip time is 7:30 PM ET, and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network. I’m not aware of a legal stream for CBSSN, however.

Odds and Picks

Yesterday: 1-1 ATS; Season to Date: 30-45-1 ATS

  • Vanderbilt (+2) at Middle Tennessee: While MTSU is 8-1 on the season, that record’s mostly been built on the backs of teams worse than Vanderbilt. The Commodores will shoot and make a lot of threes, and I like them to pull what (according to the oddsmakers) would be an upset.
