On Saturday, the Tennessee Volunteers look to put an end to their three-game losing streak against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
The Vols came out of the gate hot this seasons, taking home a victory in their first five games, with notable wins over Florida, Georgia and Virginia Tech. But as of late, Tennessee has been on a three game losing streak, falling victim to Texas A&M, Alabama, and enduring a devastating three point loss to South Carolina.
This week, they look to break that losing streak against Tennessee Tech, who has struggled their way through their own schedule this season. The Golden Eagles are 3-5 this season, with their most impressive victory being a 41-7 win against Austin Peay, a team that has not managed to win a single game this season.
On Saturday, the Volunteers will look to give the ball to their sophomore tailback John Kelly, to let him get used to the offense and speed of the game. The Vols are hoping that Kelly will be the answer that they have been looking for after the transfer of Jalen Hurd. If Kelly is successful on the ground Saturday, it will give Josh Dobbs and the offense some breathing room to regain their confidence after losing the last three straight.
Overall, Saturday for the Volunteer should be a day that all football teams look forward to, a day where you win by a large margin and everyone plays. Tennessee should look to throw more guys into the rotation and rest the ones that are banged up for what should be a knockdown, drag out battle against Kentucky on November 12.
