Sitting at 6-4 with their SEC season over, the Georgia Bulldogs are looking to finish strong after picking up two wins in a row over Kentucky and then-No. 9 Auburn a week ago in Athens. The ‘Dawgs will finish the season with three consecutive games between the hedges with their upcoming meeting with Louisiana Lafayette being the penultimate game of their 2016 campaign.
Nick Chubb is coming off an impressive 101-yard day at the office, and it’s likely more surprising that he touched that threshold more than he hadn’t given the way this season is going. Chubb, Sony Michel and the other ‘Dawg runners may find it tough sledding this week as UL Lafayette boasts one of the nation’s best run defenses.
Still, there are talent discrepancies here and one of the reasons the Ragin’ Cajuns find themselves in the position they’re in — 4-5 on the year — is their offense. It’s less than stellar to say the least, and perhaps that explains why Georgia is a three touchdown favorite and change in this game. Although the Bulldogs have had their offensive issues, their defense should be able to find it easy to attack the UL Lafayette offense and prevent points being put on the board.
All things considered, this should be a game that Georgia wins handily before the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come to Athens next week for their annual tilt. Before we get “good old fashioned clean hate,” we might get an old fashioned beat down in this game if the Bulldogs play up to par.
