The Kentucky Wildcats are the lone Southeastern Conference team ranked in the preseason men’s basketball coaches’ poll, released today.

The Wildcats are ranked fourth in the poll with 695 points — just five points behind defending national champion Villanova, which ranked third — and received two first-place votes.

While Kentucky was the only team ranked, four other SEC teams received votes in the poll. Texas A&M, the defending regular-season champions, received 22 votes to rank 33rd. Florida received 11 votes to rank in a tie for 41st. Georgia received 6 votes, ranking in a tie for 46th. Finally, Arkansas received 2 votes to place in a tie for 51st.

College basketball season officially gets underway on Friday, November 11.
