Eight SEC Teams Appear in the 2015 Preseason AP Poll

The 2015 poll marks the second straight year that eight SEC teams are in the opening poll of the season

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Eight SEC teams are in the preseason AP Poll, marking the third time that the SEC has placed that many teams in the curtain-raising survey. As expected, Ohio State will open the season as No. 1. What may not have been expected was that the defending national champion Buckeyes were a unanimous choice at No. 1, the first time a team has been the unanimous top choice in the preseason AP Poll.

Alabama is the top-ranked SEC team, placing No. 3, while Auburn and Georgia also made the Top 10 at Nos. 6 and 9, respectively.

LSU comes in at No. 14, Ole Miss at No. 17, Arkansas is No. 18 and Missouri and Tennessee finish up the poll at Nos. 24 and 25.

Mississippi State and Texas A&M are the first two teams immediately outside the Top 25, while Florida also received votes.

This year's poll is similar to last year's for several SEC teams when Alabama was No. 2, Auburn ranked sixth, LSU 13th, Ole Miss 18th and Missouri 24th.
