Media Days Preseason All-SEC Teams Announced

You won't be surprised at which team fared the best.

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The SEC media voted on the best players in the conference, and the result is the preseason All-SEC team. As usual, I used a weighted scoring system (three points for first team, two points for second team, one for third team) on the offenses and defenses to come up with a score for everyone in the league:

Team First Second Third Points
Alabama 5 2 4 23
Auburn 3 2 5 18
LSU 3 2 2 15
Ole Miss 4 1 1 15
Georgia 3 2 1 14
Arkansas 0 4 2 10
Mississippi State 1 3 0 9
Tennessee 1 2 1 8
Texas A&M 1 2 1 8
Florida 1 1 1 6
South Carolina 0 1 1 3
Missouri 0 0 2 2
Kentucky 0 0 1 1
Vanderbilt 0 0 0 0

Poor Vandy. Its best player is probably running back Ralph Webb, and he's at the conference's deepest position for 2015. When Alex Collins only cracks the third team, that should tell you something.

Anyway, it's no surprise that Bama leads given that the Tide nearly always does these days. And, as is customary for these kinds of lists this year, Georgia is the only team from the East that can wedge its way into the midst of the West teams in the top half of the conference.

The player who received the highest vote point total from the media was Nick Chubb with 189, followed by Leonard Fournette with 180. Florida's Vernon Hargreaves got the most points of any defender with 186.
