The weather that delayed the start of TCU-LSU came back later and delayed the ending of Vanderbilt-Fullerton. The teams will resume today at noon Eastern to finish the game off.
The game was postponed at kind of an awkward spot with Fullerton up 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth. VU has Rhett Wiseman on third with two outs, and Zander Weil at the plate with a full count. That is where the game will resume today.
Both teams still had their starters in when officials hit the pause button. Carson Fulmer had done a fairly good job, but some sloppiness allowed the Titans to get some runs in. He walked Timmy Richards to begin the third and promptly advanced him with a balk. A sac bunt and a single then brought him home. Two more Titans crossed home plate in the fifth, with one of them coming in on a wild pitch.
Though Vandy was threatening in the sixth when weather suspended the game, it's probably to the Commodores' advantage that the game will finish a day later. Vanderbilt only managed four hits, never more than one in an inning, off of Fullerton starter Thomas Eshelman. He is easily the Titans' best pitcher, so the postponement means that he wouldn't be able to go any deeper into the game. Fullerton's bullpen isn't bad, mind you, but there's not another Eshelman waiting back there.
