Halftime Notes: No. 5 Alabama vs. No. 16 LSU

Chris Graythen

~ Much like past editions of this rivalry, it's been a defensive struggle as both teams were only able to score a combined 17 points. LSU's touchdown came on a beautiful pass from quarterback Anthony Jennings to wide receiver Malachi Dupre. The passing game has been struggling thus far, with Jennings only accumulating 31 yards, and completing only two passes going into the half, with an interception leading to points for Alabama towards the end.

~ Blake Sims, meanwhile, has been asked to do quite a lot. He's already thrown the ball 28 times this evening, but has completed on just 11 of those attempts. He threw a touchdown to the sensational Amari Cooper to tie the game in the 2nd quarter. Cooper leads all receivers with 72 yards on five receptions.

~ The running game has been good -- not great -- so far for the Tigers and Tide, respectively. Neither team is amazing the other, but T.J. Yeldon has been his usual self, with a 5.0 yards per carry on his nine attempts. Leonard Fournette leads all LSU tailbacks with 38 yards rushing on 10 attempts.

~ The Tiger defense took a hit when linebacker Kendell Beckwith was taken to the locker room with a hamstring injury. But, soon after, he was able to head back onto the field to rejoin them.

Enjoy the second half!
