Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun broke some news tonight regarding who we won't be seeing take the field for Florida against Toledo:
The Sun has confirmed that [Loucheiz] Purifoy, a starting cornerback, is one of six players who have been suspended from Saturday's game against Toledo for a violation of team rules. The others are starting middle linebacker Antonio Morrison, defensive tackles Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick, wide receiver Latroy Pittman and offensive lineman Quinteze Williams.
UPDATE: Bostwick was not suspended for the game.
We've known about Morrison's suspension for some time. He was arrested twice this offseason, once for punching a bouncer and again for barking at a police dog. He initially got a two-game suspension following the second arrest, but Will Muschamp reduced it to one game during fall camp.
All of the other suspensions are new news, with Purifoy being the biggest name of the bunch. Among the rest, only Cummings appeared on the two-deep depth chart anywhere. He's listed as a backup. Losing Purifoy and Pittman gives the team even fewer options at receiver, though the depth in the secondary should be able to cover for Purifoy's absence for a week.
From the sounds of it, all of these players will be available to play against Miami (FL) next week.
