Darren Rovell hasn't gotten off the Johnny Manziel beat:
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel signed autographs and memorabilia for dealers in two additional sessions -- one in South Florida after the Discover BCS National Championship Game in early January; the other in late January in Houston, sources have told "Outside the Lines."
Florida-based autograph dealer Kevin Freistat backed and helped organize the additional two sessions, sources with knowledge of the events said. The sessions add to the other four signings reported last week by "Outside the Lines."
Conspicuously missing from this update is any allegation of payment. I read the article multiple times, and not once does it have Freistat saying that he gave Manziel any money for these sessions. Yes, it certainly strains credulity that Manziel could have done that many signing sessions pro bono, but the situation remains the same.
Unless someone comes forward with concrete proof that Manziel, his family, or his inner circle got money or a promise of future money for doing autographs, he's very unlikely to miss any time.
