Year2's Week 6 Picks

Rolling on through to October as the conference season gets into high gear.

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

Last Week: 7-1 straight up, 4-3-1 against the spread

Season: 45-5 straight up, 24-16-1 against the spread

As always, the lines come from the Yahoo! pick 'em game except where noted.

Alabama (-55.5) over Georgia State 41-0

I'm not sure what the point is of coming up with lines for games like this. Anyway, Bama will win easily but won't run up the score quite that badly.

Georgia (-10.5) over Tennessee 45-35

On the road a week after a big win, Georgia will not be quite able to cover this one. It'll still break 40 in this letdown special, but they'll give up a lot to Butch Jones's uptempo attack.

Florida (-11.5) over Arkansas 27-6

Picking Florida to cover this is pretty dangerous, given that each team could end up leaving this with five possessions each. Even so, I will take Florida's defense to hold down a limited Arkansas offense with Tyler Murphy leading an increasingly competent Gator offense.

Auburn (+2.5) over Ole Miss 34-31

I have no idea who is winning this, but I have a feeling that the home team will pull it out. That's all I have on this. A feeling.

LSU (-9.5) over Mississippi State 31-24

I think the Tigers will be a little hungover from the emotional loss to Georgia, while Mississippi State has had extra time to prepare. Plus, this is in Starkville, and it's far from a foregone conclusion that an opponent who isn't totally focused will win easily there.

Missouri (+1.5) over Vanderbilt 40-30

I can't believe Mizzou is getting points here.

South Carolina (-21) over Kentucky 39-13

I would take the points if this was going to be in Lexington, but it's not, so I won't.
