SEC Olympics Update, Day 12

The SEC did not add any medals yesterday for only the second time in the 2012 London Olympics. Several athletes will have a chance to make sure that doesn't happen again today. All times below are Eastern.

BASKETBALL

Missouri's Linas Kleiza, Texas A&M's Antanas Kavaliauskas and Lithuania lost to Russia 83-74. Kleiza had four points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Kavaliauskas did not score in limited action.

Kentucky's Anthony Davis and Team USA took out Australia 119-86. Davis had three rebounds in limited action.

TRACK & FIELD

Women's Hammer Throw

Georgia's Sultan Frizell (Canada) was 14th in her group at 67.45, but she did not move on. Georgia's Jenny Dahlgren (Argentina) was unable to mark with any of her throws.

Men's Pole Vault

Arkansas's Jeremy Scott (USA) cleared 5.50 meters, but he did not move on to the next round.

Men's Decathlon

Tennessee's Jangy Addy (Liberia) is competing here. He scored 885 points with a 10.89 in the 100m, 790 points with a 6.90 meter showing in the long jump, 788 points with a best heave of 14.97 meters in the shot put, 740 points with 1.93 meters in the high jump, and 878 points with a 48.64 in the 400m. He is in 20th place with 4081 points through five events.

The other five events are tomorrow.

Men's 5000m

Arkansas's Alistair Cragg (Ireland) was 17th in his group at 13:47.01. He did not advance.

Women's 800m

LSU's Neisha Bernard-Thomas (Grenada) was sixth in her heat at 2:03.03, but it was the fastest heat. She was able to advance to the semis on time.

The semifinals are at 2:30 pm on Thursday, and the medal round is at 3:00 pm on Saturday.

Men's 110m Hurdles

South Carolina's Jason Richardson (USA) was first in his semifinal heat at 13.13, and so was Tennessee's Aries Merritt (USA) at 12.94. They advanced to the finals. Texas A&M's Wayne Davis (Trinidad & Tobago) was sixth in his heat at 13.49, not fast enough to advance.

In the finals, Merritt won gold with a time of 12.92, and Richardson won silver with a time of 13.04.

Women's Long Jump

Ole Miss's Brittney Reese (USA) won gold with a best jump of 7.12 meters. Florida's Shara Proctor (Great Britain) was ninth with a best leap of 6.55 meters.

Men's 200m

Arkansas's Wallace Spearmon, Jr. (USA) was second in his heat at 20.02, advancing to the finals. Ole Miss's Isiah Young (USA) was eighth in his heat at at 20.89 and did not advance.

The finals are at 3:55 pm on Thursday.

Women's 400m Hurdles

South Carolina's Lashinda Demus (USA) won silver with a time of 52.77.

Women's 200m

Arkansas's Veronica Campbell-Brown (Jamaica) placed fourth with a time of 22.38, and LSU's Semoy Hackett (Trinidad & Tobago) placed eighth at 22.87 in this medal round.
